Predicted EA SPORTS FC 24 Ratings - Manchester City

ree

The most popular football game in the world is back, and it comes with a rebrand.

Gone are the days of FIFA - it's time to say hello to EA SPORTS FC, the new name for FIFA after the naming rights ended last year.

After 3 years of PSG forward Kylian Mbappe as the game's cover star, it's Manchester City's number 9, Erling Haaland, who makes the front cover for FC24. After a highly successful season at the Blues, where he scored 52 goals on the way to the treble, Haaland is now one of football's most recognisable players.

The brand value of City has grown a lot recently, with their recognition as a European juggernaut having grown hugely with their on pitch performances, plus the fame of players such as Haaland, Jack Grealish and Kevin de Bruyne off the pitch.

This should see the ratings of a large part of the squad be up there with some of the very best players on the game, particularly with the growing respect to players like Bernardo Silva and Rodri from football admirers worldwide.

Players of EAFC24 will be able to control City in Kick Off matches, a Career Mode where they take the role of City's manager and in Seasons, where players face each other online playing with real life clubs.

Also, players will be able to add the likes of Haaland, De Bruyne and co to their Ultimate Teams, a game mode where you can build a dream team full of the best players available, and take on other Ultimate Teams from around the world.

With the game launching on September 29th 2023, we predict the FIFA rating of every Manchester City player on the game, based off ratings from last season and performances since then:

Goalkeepers

Ederson: Position - GK - FIFA 23 rating - 89 - Prediction for FC24 - 90

The Brazilian goalkeeper enjoyed an excellent season last year, where his performance in key Champions League games, particularly in the final, helped City win their first Champions League title.

He is already ranked as one of the best goalkeepers in the game, alongside Jan Oblak, Thibaut Courtois and Alisson, but I think his excellent performances in the 2022/23 season were good enough for him to deserve a +1 upgrade to 90 in FC24.

Stefan Ortega-Moreno: Position - GK - FIFA 23 rating - 80 - Prediction for FC24 - 82

Ortega-Moreno, who was signed on a free transfer from Arminia Bielefeld in 2022, has proven himself to be one of the best backup goalkeepers in the world, and was a crucial player in City's FA Cup triumph, as a part of their treble.

As such, we predict a +2 upgrade for the German goalkeeper, which will put him at approximately the same rating as most Premier League starting goalkeepers.

Scott Carson: Position - GK - FIFA 23 rating - 65 - Prediction for FC24 - 65

City's third choice goalkeeper hasn't played a single minute since March 2022, when he came on for a 20 minute cameo in the Champions League Round of 16 against Sporting Lisbon.

Therefore, we expect no change in Carson's FIFA rating, as the 37 year old's contribution to the squad comes from his leadership and character, rather than his reliability as a footballer.

Defenders

Ruben Dias: Position - CB - FIFA 23 rating - 88 - Prediction for FC24 - 88

Dias was another player who had a tremendous season for the sky blues, after his reintegration to the side in February was a major turning point in City's season.

He has been a fair constant at around the 88 mark however, so we don't expect to see his rating change for FC24; however, there is the possibility we will see an upgrade of +1, which will put the 26 year old as one of the best few defenders on the game, alongside Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk

Kyle Walker: Position - RB - FIFA 23 rating - 85 - Prediction for FC24 - 85

Despite not starting the Champions League final, Walker was one of City's most important players last season, and is one of the best full backs in the world.

However, due to his age, and the fact he remains one of the most underrated players in the world, it is unlikely that Walker will get an upgrade from his rating of 85 from last season.

John Stones: Position - CB - FIFA 23 rating - 83 - Prediction for FC24 - 85

The 29 year old proved himself to be one of the best players in the world last season, with his impressive performances as a defender-cum-midfielder helping City win the treble.

Therefore, it is likely he'll get an improved rating for FC24. We've predicted 85, but it could well be as high as 87, and it wouldn't be out of the question to see his position change from CB to either RB or even CDM either.

Josko Gvardiol: Position - CB - FIFA 23 rating - 81 - Prediction for FC24 - 85

After signing from RB Leipzig for €90 million in the summer transfer window, the Croatian international will be a good choice for anyone looking to add a strong, fast defender to their Ultimate Team.

Gvardiol will likely see a big ratings increase, thanks to his excellent World Cup performances, and his contribution to Leipzig's success in the DFB-Pokal last season, all of which earned him his move to City.

Manuel Akanji: Position - CB - FIFA 23 rating - 81 - Prediction for FC24 - 84

Signed for just £15 million from Borussia Dortmund on deadline, Akanji went from a backup signing to now being one of City's most important players, and started every Champions League knockout fixture on their way to glory.

As such, we expect a handsome upgrade from the Swiss international, with a +3 up to 84 overall, which will have him as one of the outstanding centre backs in the Premier League on FC24.

Nathan Ake: Position - LB - FIFA 23 rating - 78 - Prediction for FC24 - 83

After being criminally underrated by FIFA last year, hopefully we now see Ake get the credit he deserves on FC24.

The Dutchman was a crucial member of City's squad last season, as he nailed down the left back squad, so we expect a position change - and a heavy upgrade - at the very least.

Rico Lewis: Position - RB - FIFA 23 rating - 68 - Prediction for FC24 - 76

City's emerging star from last season, the 18 year old's form at the turn of the year meant City felt comfortable letting Joao Cancelo leave without a replacement. He continued to keep up this level, as City won the treble.

Lewis deserves a major upgrade for FC24 and we expect to see him rated at 76, which is the least his performances for City in the last 8 months deserve.

Sergio Gomez: Position - LB - FIFA 23 rating - 74 - Prediction for FC24 - 74

After appearing fairly regularly at the start of last season, Gomez can now be considered a clear rotation player, for left back, central midfield, or either of the wings.

As such, I expect Gomez to have the same rating as last year, at 74, but with a high potential rating, which will make him a useful player of Career Mode.

Midfielders

Kevin de Bruyne: Position - CM - FIFA 23 rating - 91 - Prediction for FC24 - 91

Despite his early season injury, it's unlikely that we'll see anything other than a rating of 91 for De Bruyne, despite his serious early season injury.

The Belgian will be one of the best players on the game, likely rated alongside Mbappe, Haaland, Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi and Mohammed Salah.

Rodri: Position - CDM - FIFA 23 rating - 87 - Prediction for FC24 - 89

After a monumental season from the Spaniard, Rodri is now widely considered as the best holding midfielder in the world. As such, he should now see his FC24 rating go up.

His goal in the Champions League final has certainly helped raise his profile, which will likely see him set for a higher game rating. We've predicted 89, but it could easily be higher, or lower than that.

Bernardo Silva: Position - CM - FIFA 23 rating - 88 - Prediction for FC24 - 88

The Portuguese international's performances last season means he has done nothing to deserve a downgrade from his rating of 88 last season, which means we'll likely see him remain an 88 rated player for FC24.

However, after showing his talents of playing as a deeper lying midfielder across the last few seasons, we predict his position to be changed from CAM to CM accordingly.

Phil Foden: Position - CAM - FIFA 23 rating - 85 - Prediction for FC24 - 86

Foden's FIFA rating has been climbing steadily as he develops more and more; therefore, we predict another increase of 1 for City's number 47.

Like Ake and Bernardo, we also predict a position change for the 23 year old. It'll be a move from LW to CAM, a swap which reflects where he is most likely to receive his playing time this season, particularly whilst De Bruyne remains injured.

Mateo Kovacic: Position - CM - FIFA 23 rating - 84 - Prediction for FC24 - 84

The 29 year old has started his career at City in excellent fashion, proving himself to be part of the furniture already. However, this is unlikely to see him earn an improved rating for FC24.

Kovacic, like many of his Chelsea teammates, endured an underwhelming season last year under the tumultuous ownership of Todd Boehly, which likely means we see him keep his respectable rating of 84 for next season.

Matheus Nunes: Position - CM - FIFA 23 rating - 79 - Prediction for FC24 - 81

Signed on deadline day, Nunes adds high quality backup to City's midfield positions, and some quality and experience playing in the Premier League. After a good first season at Wolves, we expect an upgrade for the Portuguese international.

Despite being dubbed as "one of the best players in the world" by Pep Guardiola in 2022, Nunes's rating for FC24 will probably not exceed 84 at the very most. We've gone for 81, and upgrade of +2, but it could well be a rating or two higher.

Kalvin Phillips: Position - CDM - FIFA 23 rating - 81 - Prediction for FC24 - 78

Unfortunately, the transfer of Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City would appear to be a failed one. He started just 2 Premier League matches last season, both of which came after the title was wrapped up in City's favour.

As such, we expect City's number 4 to receive a downgrade, from 81 to 78, to reflect more accurately on his status within the team.

Forwards

Erling Haaland: Position - ST - FIFA 23 rating - 88 - Prediction for FC24 - 91

After his immense 2022/23 season, with his contributions of a combined total of over 60 goals and assists helping City on their way to a treble, Haaland will undeniably receive an upgrade, without a shadow of a doubt.

The only question is by how much. We've stuck our neck out, and gone for a +3 upgrade to 91, which will put the FC24 cover star alongside the very best players in the game.

Jack Grealish: Position - LW - FIFA 23 rating - 84 - Prediction for FC24 - 86

City's record signing enjoyed an exceptional season last year. He finished as City's second highest assister, behind just De Bruyne, and was an integral part of the side for City's biggest games.

As such, we expect a +2 upgrade for the former Aston Villa captain. This will bring him up to the same rating as Foden, which seems a fair reflection of Grealish's performances in the last 12 months.

Julian Alvarez: Position - ST - FIFA 23 rating - 78 - Prediction for FC24 - 84

After a 2022/23 season which saw many people claim he'd "completed football" after winning the treble on top of the World Cup, Alvarez can expect a hefty upgrade.

An upgrade of +6 seems fair for the 23 year old, after proving himself to be one of the best strikers in the world. Hopefully, if he continues his fine form, we'll see Alvarez's FC ratings continue to grow in future games.

Jeremy Doku: Position - RW - FIFA 23 rating - 75 - Prediction for FC24 - 79

After Riyad Mahrez's departure to Al-Ahli in the summer, City look to have replaced him with the young Belgian winger Doku, who'll look to make a positive impact on City after De Bruyne personally recommended him to the club.

City's number 11 is still raw, but we predict a +4 upgrade to 79, now he is playing for one of the best teams in the world.

Oscar Bobb: Position - RW - FIFA 23 rating - N/A - Prediction for FC24 - 67

For his first appearance on football's biggest game, we expect to see Bobb given a relatively low rating, making him a silver card at 67, but with the potential to grow and develop on the game.

It is important to note as well that there will likely be a few youth players involved on FC24, to make up spaces in City's reserves.

The likes of Micah Hamilton, Will Dickson, Emilio Lawrence, Joel Ndala and Alfie Harrison will be hoping to be involved on FC24, as players who could be sent out on loan for players of career mode, or as starter players for Ultimate team players.
